Industry blogs and predicting your future PDF Print E-mail

Examining blog posts in your industry empowers you to better predict keywords and/or key phrases employed in future searches, making your SEM more dynamic, proactive, and targeted.  Online tools such as BlogPulse Trend allow easy tracking of industry "buzz" words to better identify industry trends and future relevant keywords.

Industry blogs and predicting your future

Keywords research, and employing tools like Wordtracker.com and Keyword Discovery, is central to search engine marketing strategies, since it enables you to discover the keywords and/or phrases being employed in current online searches. But what if you could actually predict the keywords employed in

future searches?

A smart way to identify future trends and predict future searches is to consider the information posted by bloggers in your industry. Your findings can then be incorporated into your own SEM campaign, by working into your website content those keywords now found in industry blogs but not yet in widespread use.

There are valuable online tools enabling you to examine how popular key phrases have been with bloggers over the past few months (i.e. trend.icerocket.com, blogpulse.com/trend).

BlogPulse Trend Search, for example, enables you to actually create graphs that visually track or record industry “buzz” words over time for certain keywords, phrases or links. You can compare search terms and/or links in isolation, or against others. These graphs show recent past data, but are excellent for finding out whether bloggers have been talking more, or less, about your selected phrases. It is all useful information, particularly since bloggers are often considered to be on cutting edge of new industry trends.

BuzzMetric’s BrandPulse tool takes blogging research a step further, allowing you to examine keywords and phrase usage in all forms of consumer-generated media (i.e. discussion forums, newsgroups, message boards).

Bloggers in your industry may be your future customers, or at least closely match their profiles,. Researching their user information and the terms they employ empowers you to devise a more proactive and targeted search engine marketing campaign. Researching industry bloggers allows you to better predict the words showing up not only in future keyword research tools, but also future searches. Staying ahead of the competition means staying on top of organic search results or avoiding nasty bidding wars for your paid search cost-per-click results.
